One of the biggest questions in my mind about the Gulf Oil Spill was: how could this have happened? I don’t know much about the process of deepwater oil drilling, but everything I’ve read on the subject so far has said that the methods and machines used for such purposes are designed to prevent what happened to the Deepwater Horizon from happening.

My first inclination (moderate conspiracy theorist that I am) was to suppose that there was more going on in the way of political intrigue than the media, and the powers that control the media, would have us believe. Rumors were circulated that a North Korean submarine was actually responsible for sinking of the Deepwater Horizon. (e.g. here) There have also been rumors that oil is leaking into the Gulf of Mexico from multiple locations — some of them miles away from the scene of the disaster –, and even that the entire sea-floor had been devastated, way beyond any hope of repair.

Who knows? Maybe there’s truth here. I wouldn’t be surprised.

But Sorcha Faal seems to be single-handedly responsible for the dissemination of these claims. Not a very reliable source, as is evident enough from reading what she (or whoever “she” is) has to say on this and just about any topic. A sensationalist journalist if there ever was one.

Here’s another take though.

In a radio interview by Mark Levin on May 04, one of the survivors  from the destroyed oil rig, calling in anonymously, had some interesting things to say. (Why anonymously though?!)

This informant answered some of my questions about what went wrong on that day. One the things he said is that deepwater drilling is extremely risky and potentially very hazardous, owing to many factors, perhaps the most obvious one being the high pressures at which gases enter the wellbore — 30 – 40,000 psi!

Blessa

Blessa, a song by Toro Y Moi from the album of the same name.

Silver Soul

This is the second track from the new Beach House album, Teen Dream. I can’t get tired of this song. Indeed, the whole album is good like that.

.  .  .

We gather matters of the heart

So we can act a fool

It’s incomplete without you

The silver soul is running through

It’s a vision, complete illusion yea. . .

On 9-10-2001, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, revealed that the US military was unable to account for trillions of dollars of taxpayers’ money.

Rumsfeld stated: “According to some estimates we cannot track $2.3 trillion in transactions.” According to a report by the Inspector General, the Pentagon cannot account for 25 percent of what it spends. [9-11 Research , CBS news video]

.  .  .

A well researched documentary on 09-11 presents evidence that the US government was complicit in the terrorist attacks on our country. Using readily available news reports, independent researcher Paul Thompson was able to “connect the dots” of information on 09-11. [see his Complete 911 Timeline].

Among other things, he discovered that President Bush and other top US leaders lied, by repeatedly denying that they had any foreknowledge of the terrorist attacks, when in fact they did.

What’s more disturbing is the link between the US government and Pakistani General Mahmood Ahmed, who allegedly funded Mohamed Atta, one of the hijackers. The weirdness here is two-fold. On the one hand, Ahmed was director of ISI, Pakistan’s intelligence organization, which received billions of dollars from the US in the 1980s during the Soviet-Afgan war. Long story short, it looks like we actually helped finance the terrorist attacks in an indirect way.

The other odd thing about General Ahmed, is that he was in the United States, meeting with White House officials during the 09-11 attacks. The nature of these meetings? Undisclosed. Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice even pretended to have no knowledge of Ahmed’s presence in our country.

.  .  .

Complicated stuff.

What I see here is a connection between the Pentagon’s unaccounted trillions, and their clandestine funding of foreign military operations. . . which (and here’s the upshot) has led to the creation of terrorist networks like Al-Qaeda.

Follow the trails yourself, and you may come to the same conclusion. But be prepared for some stinky crap. This is inevitably what you find when you start probing into the US Government.

Once a Day

All India Radio has made available an album for free download (or pay what you will). It’s a collection of 25 (yes, 25!) downtempo instrumental songs. All simple and beautifully arranged. Really nice stuff.

The title comes from the band (i.e. Martin Kennedy) having posted a new song for free download every day for 25 days in a row last December. Sounds like alot of work!

Have a listen to the first track, Evening Star.

Or you can listen to and download the whole album here.

Bill Maher has some good advice for stupid people like you who have their money deposited in one of the big evil US banks.(Don’t look at me: I belong a small evil credit union.)

“Hello, I’d like to take a moment to address the millions and millions of you all across America who are currently stuck in an abusive relationship.

Now I know what some of you are thinking: Who is Bill Maher to give me relationship advice?

But that doesn’t mean I don’t know a dysfunctional relationship when I see one. Especially when it’s staring me right in the face.

You know who you are. Those of you staying in a relationship long after it’s turned bad. Sticking around despite the abuse — even as it’s gotten worse and worse over the years. Sticking around only because it seems easier than breaking up — and besides, where else are you going to go?

That’s right, I’m talking to all of you that keep doing your banking at the giant, too big to fail, Wall Street banks that brought our economy to the brink of disaster, were rescued by trillions of dollars of our taxpayer money, then paid us back by using that money to hire lobbyists to convince our lawmakers in Washington to kill financial reform.

They took our money… but cut back on lending. They took our money… and made record profits — and paid themselves record bonuses. . .”

Odd Undertow

My wife helped come up with the title for this little loop — one of a hundred others like it.
